Major Update 0.7 Released! | New Content and Major Overhaul
Hello Monster Girl Lovers,
Happy new year!
After much work we're back with a long overdue update for Monster Girl Descent, and now it is better than ever!
Complete overhauls of many of the game features, another monster girl joins the roster and more!
It is highly recommended to start a new save due to the number of changes made to starting decks, cards and other events. A lot of the changes probably won't reflect properly on old saves.
Whilst many of the core systems remain the same in terms of appearance, we've gone through and painstakingly refined and improved upon many of the design and code aspects. It should now feel much better to play overall.
Various parts of the UI such as the Artifact menu, battle menu and Gobbo's shop have been improved upon in many places to be less janky, more intuitive and easier for us to develop. Meaning we can add new items, cards and other data without needing it all to be hand crafted. It is a lot more dynamic and fluid now.
We've also overhauled the classes and cards. Classes should feel more unique now and each has their own proper special features.
All previous cards have either been replaced, retweaked or redesigned. They should all now feel much better to play and less random. Since we've added a bunch of new cards, there should also be a few more viable builds than just one to play with.
Of course, some more content for you to enjoy too!
Here's the full changelog:
New Content:
The Scorpion Girl can now be found in the depths of the cave, watch out for her powerful stinger!
Added Scorpion Girl and her H-Scene.
Added a difficulty setting system so you can adjust the level of challenge. (Can be changed at any time from the options menu)
100+ New Cards.
New and Improved Artifact system.
Improved and upgraded UI and backends.
Added some more floor designs.
Added more interactables that can randomly spawn on each floor.
All player classes have had their cards and skills overhauled completely. Useless cards have mostly been removed and more interesting cards and unique mechanics for each class have been emphasised.
All classes now start out slightly weaker without immediate access to instant-win cards such as singularity. Stronger cards need to be earned/found bought deeper in the dungeon.
Despite the above, each class now has its own unique mechanics to learn and exploit to help your survival.
New shield generation system. Every stack of shield you have prevents 1 damage to your HP. (A familiar system.)
New Momentum system for the Warrior Class (Build your momentum by attacking or taking damage and use it to make your attacks stronger.)
New Arcane Cycle system for the Mage Class. (The effects of your cards can change depending on the element you played before)
New Overheal system for the Cleric. (Healing over Max HP generates shields. These can be spent to make spells stronger.)
Added a bunch of new status effects that will need to be managed inside and outside battles in the form of special cards.
Card rewards now take your class into account when deciding drops. You won't get cards for other classes anymore. Only neutral cards or those that belong to your class.
The above change also applies to Gobbo's shop.
New UI Graphics and improvements across the board.
Cards now have unique graphics to indicate what class they are for, their rarity and other aspects. Colourless cards can be used by any class.
Rocks, debris and other obstacles are now placed more randomly (with safeguards to make prevent getting stuck). They can be destroyed if you obtain a Pickaxe artifact. Sometimes they might contain a surprise or open up a path to treasure!
Enemies now have an indicator showing their next move. You can now prepare in advance by building some shields with the new system before they strike, or maybe hit them with a debuff!
Other Tweaks and Fixes:
The card library/deck UI has been updated to be less chaotic. It should now be easier to scroll through your cards and examine them.
There is a new visual UI for removing and upgrading cards in the deck. It should be much simpler and easier to do now that you can actually see your cards at a glance. No more needing to remember their names.
Gobbo's shop has a new UI which allows for more dynamic display of items, cards and artifacts.
Your artifacts are now visible in battles, when exploring and on other scenes. You can hover over them with the mouse to view their information.
Card text has been overhauled and should now appear on cards more naturally, centred and easier to read.
Fixed an issue where card images could get stuck on the screen when removing them.
Fixed status effect cards disappearing from deck but still showing in skill list/remove list after battles. They now show up in subsequent battles until removed.
Added a new type of temporary status cards that will be fully removed after battle. These are different to the permanent cards that must be removed manually.
Fixed crashes caused by the player's HP being reduced to 0 at the start of a turn by status cards and other effects.
Multiple typo and formatting fixes.
Various minor UI tweaks and fixes.
Tooltips for card mechanics now appear in more locations such as the card library, removal screen and so on to better show the effects.
Fixed card tooltips being cut off in some cases.
Fixes to the way Energy Booster works. It should no longer endlessly add mana.
Fixes to battle log processing, things should stay on screen longer and important information should be more readily available.
Battle log now shows on the empty space to the right of the screen, since we are using the other spaces for important UI elements.
Fixed minimap not being hidden in Gobbo's shop. It no longer blocks the UI.
There is now a confirmation step after the name input during the intro, so you can input the name again if you made a typo and etc.
We hope you'll enjoy this update!
Coming Next in version 0.8:
Next up is the scene for the Princess. We know she is high in demand and sorry that she's taken so long to get figured out, but she IS coming!
The princess will eventually have multiple scenes, routes and will be romanceable, corruptable and other cool things!
More features related to the town. (More upgrades, locations and encounters)
Day system to be used for the above mentioned encounters (certain encounters and characters only show up on some days)
Eventually more Monster Girls! (Sorry they take so long, they are all hand drawn.)
All monster girls will have their skills overhauled completely. Each one having unique skills, status effects and mechanics to fight against. They should then be much more unique in their fighting style and provide unique challenges to the player.
More languages to be added!
We won't leave you waiting so long for the next update. We expect it to be ready around Feb/March 2026.
Much love and a happy new year to you all!
