Drawing a New Capsule Art

It's time to update the cover artwork for Sombionic!

The previous version was created early in development before any enemy characters were designed and featured only Melany. The new cover aims to better communicate the game’s identity as a monster shooter with mature themes.

Below is the final result:

The artwork was updated to feature Kryth as an enemy, alongside a teaser for another upcoming enemy character, as well as a tentacle gripping Melany’s leg.

From very early one, I wanted to have the Sombionic logo be written on the bottom of the image (ground area) to not interfere with the action. The concept below shows more enemies included, it was the main focus to have combat action, but later on with the scale of the image, we have decided to remove the enemy on the right, because there was no space for him.

Then, the next problem was deciding what kind of a weapon to have, keep in mind it is on a separate layer, so likely it's going to be swapped, but here are some experiments with pistols that show Melany's chest more, since the AR was hiding the entire chest area.

It looks good, but there's no plan to add pistols in the game, so we went back experimenting with different AR position and rotation until it looked right and revealed some of the chest area.

Fast forward, we tried different faces on Melany (example below), but in the end we did something pretty close to the old concept and the way she looks in-game.
