Developer update March 2026

Hi folks,

Just to keep everyone in the loop, Season 2 release date is now scheduled for Summer 2026. I know this is later than previously estimated and it's been a LONG time since Season 1. The reason for this delay is because since Season 1's release, my priority was on finishing the original game which is now complete.

For those not familiar with the original game... It started almost nine years ago... and all of the artwork, especially in the earlier episodes (there are 25 episodes in total in the original game.) was really poor and was not up to the quality level to match today's art standards, so needed to be reworked / completely re-done (the re-do of the earlier episodes, became Season 1 on Steam). It also didn't have music / SFX, had lower quality GUI and some of the dialog / scenes needed major work too.

So for all my supporters on Patreon who started with the original game, I HAD to complete this game, before starting work on Season 2. Now that has been complete, all time/priorities have shifted to completing Season 2 and that's what we are working on.

For those who never played the original game and have only played Season 1, I would not recommend playing the original game as the drop in quality is significant, so it's best to wait for Season 2, which will match or exceed the quality you've already seen in Season 1.

However, ALL of my time is now being spent on Season 2, so we are now progressing at a good rate and it will be out this Summer (exactly when in the Summer will depend on how much extra content I add).

Based on the full body of work, I estimate there will be four seasons in "Where the Heart is" (and possibly a fifth depending on how much extra content we add). However, the wait for Season 2 will be the longest wait by far.... Season 3 and 4 are fully written and have most of the art completed.... so the wait for Season 3 will be very, very short compared to Season 2. The wait between Season 2 and Season 3, will be months, not years... And even less for Season 4. The full game (all seasons) will not drag out past 2027... starting with season 2 in a few months.

Also, once Season 2 is complete, I will then put some effort into translating both Season 1 and 2 into other languages, but the time / focus at the moment is completing the English language version of Season 2.
